I love how you informed your children of this transition beforehand and how you got your husband on board. I've introduced my fair share of trial interventions to my exceptional family with two ASD toddlers, but it looks like I'll be doing it again very soon with this method that you've shared. You've generously provided us the data and given me the hope I need to start successfully. Sidenote: OH boy!.. They are NOT going to be happy about this!

Oh Cheniece, I'm so excited that you're planning to try out a screen fast with your autistic kiddos! I wish I would have known about so, SO much earlier. I can only imagine how much easier things might've been. I hope they will be for you and your family. 💜 Please let me know if you have any questions or just need support as you get started. I imagine those first few days might be tough with little ones who can't easily express their frustration. I pray blessings and so much success on your efforts. Keep us updated!

I totally love the data nerd out!!! So is this absolutely no screens or reducing the amount?

I knew my fellow BT would appreciate the numbers and graphs! :) Yes! This, we are doing absolutely no screens. The book allows for some "passive screen time" which is defined as a small screen, viewed from a distance, watching slow-paced shows like old Disney movies or nature films. However, the author also says that even this type of screen-time has been associated with negative symptoms and behaviors, so we just decided to get rid of it all. My biggest deciding factor in doing that was actually because I didn't want an argument from my kids every time to decide what qualified as "passive screen-time" and I knew those types of shows are not their preferred options, so they probably wouldn't be satisfied with them anyway. In the end, it's been a success, so I'm glad we went the more extreme route.
